I'm a stylist just trying to give some wardrobe help to the fellas
Boy, oh boy are we getting to the good stuff today. Lets talk about shoes and pants. I will probably go into shoes a bit more in depth with future posts but as of right now, lets just keep it simple. Starting with…
5. Leather dress shoes (Black and Brown)
Nothing says more about a fella than his shoes. So believe it or not, please take your time to find a fantastic pair of shoes. Do not skimp on this. An excellent pair of shoes are totally worth the money. Two pair are needed, one brown and one black. Both will go really well with that grey suit you will get as soon as you’re done reading this. I mean read this first of course, then go on a shopping rampage. I’ll go into depth about all this stuff in future posts but for now I’ll be brief. You’ll want a narrow shoe and round pointed toe. Not a square toe because it’s not the fricken 90’s anymore, dammit. I’m quite fond of the Brogue style but find your own style. You’ll thank me later.
6. Casual sneaker
So this should be up to you and your personal taste. I actually love a low profile shoe and nothing too large. Cole Haan has a great pair of sneakers and Holy crap are they stupid comfy. Hey, I’m not all about the form over function. I have to be comfortable in my clothes and so should you. Seriously, if it hurts don’t buy it.
7. A pair of boots
I’m a big fan of boots. I feel so rugged and masculine. I know, I need therapy. Boots are fantastic if you’re feeling casual and the weather is a bit nasty and rainy. What kind of boot? That’s up to you there, milky. There’s a couple options for you to ponder over. A Chelsea boot which could be a very classy look with jeans and a blazer or a brogue style boot which is kind of a cross between a wingtip and a combat boot. Bottom line, they are an awesome choice that fit well within a dress shoe and a sneaker. I mean, if you don’t count a casual shoe. Dammit, I forgot…
8. A casual shoe
I know you must be asking… Why the hell so many shoes, dude??? Ok, one, don’t call me dude, and two, just fricken do it. People can tell a lot about you by your shoes. I know it sounds stupid but it’s true. BTW, CROCS SHALL NEVER BE WORN!!!! Unless you work in a hospital or a in a gourmet kitchen, crocs shall never be on your feet. Ok, that’s not entirely true. I just recently saw some nice looking ones that I’ll accept because they specifically don’t look like crocs. You know the ones I’m talking about. Don’t do those.
9. A decent pair of jeans
Jeans are necessary and you will get a pair. Versatile they are and have them you must. So again you can wear them with that white shirt and the above dress shoes with a blazer and BOOM!!! Instant fashion. Again, let’s talk about fit. if you are really thin, and I mean really thin, you may “consider” getting skinny jeans but that’s as far as it goes. Straight leg for everyone. No relaxed fit or carpenter pants and no boot cut unless you are wearing boots and are on a ranch. The rinse also matters according to occasion. Dark wash for a dressier occasion and lighter for a casual shindig. Nuff said.
10. A pair of corduroy trousers
Ok, easy. I hear your complaining from here. This is a classy trouser that can be found in many a blue blood closet who have gone to such lofty matriculating institutions as Yale and Haahvard. No, you won’t start sounding like Thurston Howell III with lockjaw. Seriously, they’re great for cooler climates around fall and winter and gives a nice touch to said outfit.
11. A pair of khaki’s/chinos
Ok so this more of a personal preference. I don’t usually go for khakis but tan or khaki colored casual pant is totally necessary. Khaki is a good neutral and you can pair it with great colors. Seriously, check out the picture.
